History
The Left Handed Chef was founded in Central Oregon in 2006. Having
over 27 years of experience in customer service and support and having traveled
significantly, experiencing first hand (in the kitchen) passionate, traditional
foods from the American South, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Germany, Mexico and
others.
Roy, a left-handed chef, decided it was time for a catering company
that had its clients' best interests in mind. In addition to his own culinary
expertise and customer care philosophy, Roy has hired some of the best event
and creative organization people in the Northwest. Roy has a deep and simple
belief: If you do what you absolutely love, what you're absolutely
passionate about, the business will thrive.
Company Equipment and Expertise
The
Left Handed Chef's equipment is top-notch. Roy researched mobile kitchens
and all that's involved, BBQ pits and other support equipment, over a two
year period before finally settling on the top builders/suppliers. Its mobile
kitchens are built by the company that supplies NASCAR competitors and caterers
with mobile units. And, while not its sole focus, The Left Handed Chef's
BBQ quality has earned a reputation as some of the best ever experienced.
Its 3,000 LBS stainless steel smoker is build by Ole Hickory Pits, the Southern
Missouri award winning pit builder that supplies Mike Mills, "The Legend", with
his equipment. Mike is a top BBQ trophy winner year-over-year - look him
up! He's an honored man in Memphis and the world of BBQ. Roy spent time
at Mike's restaurant in Southern Illinois, hearing his techniques and suggestions,
and learning from his Pit Master. The Ole Hickory Pit's efficiency and use
of real spilt wood (In our case: Hickory, Apple and Cherry) make the quality,
consistency and capacities simply unmatched by trailer towed or drum units.
